Landscaping – Installing New Paver Walkway

Landscaping – Installing New Paver Walkway

I recently started a project to improve the landscaping in front of my house.  The first part of this process for me was installing a new paver walkway.  The previous owners had pavers setup around the front porch, but it was really awkward and didn’t really feel like a walkway.  To top it off, they had pachysandra ground cover growing through the pavers and all around the front of the house.  I’m not a big fan of the pachysandra, so that was one of the first things I got rid of when I moved into the house!  I wish I still...

Update

Well it has been a long time since I posted anything on the blog, and I hope that I can change that going forward. I did want to just write a short update of why I haven’t been posting.  It’s been tough to find some free time in the last few months to take care of the blog.  Here is a rundown of what has been going on in the last few months: 1)      At the end of June, I purchased a house.  This was both a huge financial commitment and time commitment.  I’ve spent a lot of time doing...

Accepted to Business School – Tepper School of Business

Accepted to Business School – Tepper School of Business

I wrote earlier in the year that one of my personal goals was to get accepted to both Katz (University of Pittsburgh) and Tepper (Carnegie Mellon University).  I’m happy to say that I was accepted to both programs!  I was accepted to Katz a few days after I sent my application in.  For Tepper, I had to wait almost a month to find out if I was accepted.  Tepper’s admission process was pretty rigorous.  The application consisted of four essays, resume, activities, GMAT, transcripts, detailed work experience, and an interview. I will be honest, I was really nervous during the...

Buying a House – The Home Inspection

Well I just had a disastrous experience going through the process of buying a house.  I just want to be sure to remind everybody of something: when you make an offer on a house, ALWAYS make it contingent on a home inspection! My girlfriend and I have been looking at houses for about 4 months and we finally found the house that we really loved!  Unfortunately, we didn’t have a lot of time to think about it because there was an offer made on the house the same day we looked at it.  After taking a few hours to think...

Update

I guess it is about time that I give an update why i haven’t been blogging. The last couple weeks have been crazy with me trying to get things done at work because I had elbow surgery this past week, and I am going to be out of work for the next week. The surgery went really well and everything should be fixed now, but only time will tell. If your curious, I had two issues with my elbow. The first is called snapping triceps syndrome and the second is called ulnar nerve subluxation. Basically, my triceps and ulnar nerve...

Can People Really Afford These Luxury Cars?

Can People Really Afford These Luxury Cars?

I have a 25 minute commute to and from work each day. During my commute, one of the thoughts that always crosses my mind is: “Can these people really afford all of these luxury cars I see on the road?” The more I think about it, the more I think that a lot of these people are probably trying to keep up with the Joneses and are in debt up to their eyeballs! Now, I am sure there are some people that drive around in these luxury cars that really can afford them because of a high salary.  However, I...
