How To Motivate Yourself To Save Money

How To Motivate Yourself To Save MoneySaving money isn’t fun for everyone. For me, I love saving money, but it can still be hard at times to stay motivated. Most people can get off the savings wagon, and while sometimes it may just last a few days, other times you may go for so long that you completely forget about your savings goal.

Your savings goal may seem far away, it may get difficult, or you may just get tired of trying to save for your goal. However, don’t! There are many reasons for why you might want to save money, and below are my tips to help motivate you to save money.

Set goals.

Setting goals is very important if you want to stay motivated when it comes to saving. There must be something out there that you want to save for. You could be saving for:

  • A car.
  • A wedding.
  • A vacation.
  • Clothing spending.
  • A new home.
  • To prepare yourself for a baby.
  • For a pet.
  • Retirement.
  • And more!

What you want to save for is entirely up to you. Having a goal is helpful because you can think about this goal whenever you are feeling slightly less motivated. Also, you can always think about what will happen if you do NOT save, and that can be a motivator as well.

Automate your saving.

If you are not good with saving money on your own, then you may want to look into automating your savings. There are many ways you can do this.

One way would be to round-up all of your purchases and many banks will do this for you. So, if you have a purchase for $4.54, your bank will automatically round it up and put the change in a separate savings account for whatever goal you are trying to save for.

Another way to automate would be to automatically have a part of your paycheck automatically transferred to your savings account each time you get paid. I know someone who does this. This way you pay yourself first!

Start a blog.

Having a blog can be a great way to keep yourself motivated. If you do not have one, then I recommend you start one. You can journey your progress with your savings. Once you have some readers, you will have someone there who is reading to help keep you on track.

How do you like to motivate yourself to save money?
