There are plenty of ways to have great fun on a budget. I know this because this is what I do. Whenever I hear about people who spend hundreds or sometimes even thousands of dollars each month on their entertainment budget, I cannot believe it.
Sure, that is fine if you can actually afford it, but many people who are in debt do not believe that they can cut down on their entertainment spending without drastically decreasing the quality of their life.
Gen Y Finances: 2017 could be most successful year in your life!
That is just not true at all! Today, I am going to talk about four different ways that you can have fun for free.
1. Search for free events in your town and surrounding area.
There are usually many free town and city events. You may visit a festival, a free musical show, an ice event (there are plenty of these in my town right now in the winter months) etc.
Just because they are free doesn’t mean that it will be boring either. That is a common misconception.
These are usually great events that a town or city pours a lot of money into in order to attract tourism dollars. If you already live nearby though, you can visit for free, and go home to eat and sleep!
2. Go outside.
There are tons of things that you can do outside for free. You can go swimming at a lake, go for a hike on a fun trail near your home, go for a walk around the neighborhood with your loved ones, take your dog for a run, go geocaching, and more.
The list of things you can do outside is endless. Just get out there and start exploring.
3. Look for free days.
Many places will offer free days for new customers. Some, such as national parks, will allow anyone on certain designated days throughout the year to visit their national park for free. All you have to do is look around. They are everywhere!
4. Subscribe to free emails.
Many times, your favorite restaurant and favorite place will offer free meals and so on if you just bring in a coupon. If it is around your birthday, then you will get a ton of these. You can eat free meals, get free movie codes (such as to places like RedBox), and do things for free and all you have to do is subscribe to a company’s e-mail newsletter.
If you don’t want to be hounded with a ton of e-mails, you can just create a separate e-mail address that is purely used for deals. Makes everything much easier and organized this way.
