Limiting Distractions When Working Or Studying

Limiting Distractions When Working Or StudyingIf you are anything like me, then you may have a problem with limiting distractions around you and really focusing on what needs to be done.

It can be so easy to get distracted and side tracked from what you really need to complete. However, if you are low on time, then you really need to buckle down and accomplish all of your tasks.

Below are different ways to limit distractions around you so that you can finally get stuff done.

Separate yourself.

If you often find yourself distracted, it is usually because of where you are trying to work. You should have a designated work area away from distractions so that you can really concentrate.

To do this, you could maybe create a separate office. Work in a room where you can close the door and work all by yourself.

If you don’t have a separate room for you to work in, then you may try leaving your home and working somewhere completely separate. Different places that you could try include the library, the park, a coffee shop, and so on. For me, I prefer to work in a completely quiet area, so my home or the library are usually best.

Be direct with others.

If you have children, family members or friends who are calling your name, calling your phone, etc., then you should let them know that you are busy. They can’t stop bothering you if they don’t even know that they are supposed to be leaving you alone.

Get rid of electronics.

I can’t really work with everything turned on right next to me. I will put my phone on silent, and sometimes even put it in another room so that I can’t easily pick it up.

You can also turn off the TV, closing your laptop, closing Facebook and other social media accounts, and so on.

There are apps for your phone that you can download that will help you limit distractions around you. They will sometimes turn off your social media accounts for you so that you can get focused. For example, if you have a problem with getting on Facebook too often, then the phone app will usually turn off Facebook for a certain amount of time (that you designate) so that you can’t even turn it on and look around if you wanted to.

How do you limit distractions in your life?
